Applications

CEWELD NiCro 718 is designed for a wide range of applications where high strength, excellent mechanical properties and resistance to extreme temperatures are required. The filler metal is used for components such as liquid-fueled rocket parts, rings, casings and various formed sheet metal components for aircraft and land-based gas turbine engines. It is also suitable for cryogenic tanks, fasteners and instrumentation components.

CEWELD NiCro 718 can also be used for cladding and overlay applications in the oil and gas industry, where high strength and long-term reliability under severe operating conditions are essential.

Properties

Special nickel-based alloy with an age-hardenable weld deposit providing mechanical properties comparable to the base material Alloy 718 after heat treatment.

The weld deposit can be age hardened according to the following procedure:

Age hardening:

  • 720 °C for 8 hours
  • Furnace cool at a rate of 55 °C/hour to 620 °C
  • Hold at 620 °C for 8 hours
  • Final cooling in air

CEWELD NiCro 718 provides high tensile strength, excellent creep resistance and superior mechanical properties after heat treatment, both at elevated and cryogenic temperatures.
